It all begins on the back…
Trace monotype prints are original, handmade, unique prints.
They begin by placing a sheet of paper onto an inked surface. You create the print by applying pressure on the back of the paper, either by drawing, scratching or rubbing. This forces the paper on the other side to come in contact with the inked plate, thereby create a print. This is a unique state, 1 only print.
A secondary ‘ghost’ print can be created after the original print has been made. You simply place another sheet of paper onto the used ink surface and lift of the remaining ink.
